The general waste bin (pink bin or red lid) is provided for general household waste that cannot be recycled or go into your kerbside FOGO bin. Waste is collected weekly. Using your general waste bin and sending materials to landfill should always be the last option. The recycling bin (yellow lid) is provided for mixed recycling items collected within the household. The bin is collected fortnightly opposite to the FOGO bin collection. Items should be empty, food scraped out and rinsed if required. The numbers shown on the bottom of plastic containers are known as Plastic Identification Codes (PIC). These codes are used to identify the type of plastic used to make the container. The PIC that can be included in your kerbside recycling bin are 1, 2 and 3. The Food Organic and Garden Organic FOGO bin (green lid) is provided for disposal of food and garden waste. The bin is collected fortnightly opposite to the Recycling bin collection. Acceptable item: ✅ All food scraps, raw and cooked✅ Meat, bones and seafood✅ Hair or fur✅ Tea bags and coffee grounds✅ Leaves, flowers and other garden cuttings✅ Grass✅ Shredded paper Unacceptable items: ❌ Soft plastics and plastic bags ❌ Plastic food packaging ❌ Polystyrene or foam ❌ Clothing, shoes and textiles ❌ Plastic pots, containers or bottles ❌ Nappies❌ Dirt or rocks❌ Tree branches larger than 20cm in diameter ❌ Painted or treated timber
