The coatings used in baking paper prevent it from being recycled or composted. Even compostable baking paper may not break down in standard kerbside systems.
Did You Know
While it looks like paper, baking paper is actually made by running paper pulp through a bath of sulfuric acid (or sometimes zinc chloride). This process dissolves part of the fibres, creating a dense, sulphurised, and waterproof material.
